How to prep for a big event!

Hello world! I had my Ball a couple of weeks ago and it was one of the best nights of my life! This was how I prepared the entire week for it…

CLEANSE: Glam Glow ThirstyCleanse every morning and night. This is my special occasion cleanser, just because it’s so expensive and I don’t want to waste it! This foaming ocleanser will give you that squeaky clean feeling without the tight, dry and uncomfortable feeling after. Make sure you use deep cleansing products at least the week before to keep the pimples at bay!

SERUM: Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate Serum every night. This serum is a watery-gel type texture and reminds me of the gel inside the soaked Korean sheet masks. I pat this into my skin after cleansing until it feels tacky – that’s when I know it has absorbed. This leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated when I wake up. Not going to lie, it probably has a placebo effect on me, because it’s so luxurious and expensive, that I feel like it’s working…but honestly, I’m probably too young to tell if it is working on an anti-aging level.

FACE MOISTURISER: Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for Sensitive Skin every morning and night. I’m terrified to switch moisturisers a week before a big event, just because my skin is notorious for acting out on new moisturisers. This moisturiser does the job, whilst never breaking me out – score!

EYE CREAM: Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado every night. I not only use this on my eyes, but also my dry spots, which pop up irregularly around my face. Honestly, my eyes aren’t bad to begin with so I can’t tell the different the morning after. But prevention is key!

SPOT TREATMENT: Mario Badescu Drying Lotion at night. I swear this bottle contains super powers. I use this when a pimple shows up on my face uninvited, and all I do is use a Q-tip, and place the drying lotion over the top overnight. I wake up, and the pimple is either significantly smaller or gone – magic…

SUNSCREEN: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face Lotion SPF50+ every morning. This is a must! Read my post on sunscreen by clicking here: How to slow down the aging process.

BODY MOISTURISER: Vaseline Total Moisture Dry Skin three times a day. Everyone always tells me my skin looks super smooth – my secret? I moisturise three times a day – overboard? Maybe, but I like to think not. 😛 I moisturise when I wake up, after my shower, and just before I go to bed. This moisturiser is amazing for giving me soft, hydrated and smooth skin.

FACE MASK: I used The Face Shop Real Nature Sheet Masks twice a week. I used Cucumber at the beginning of the week to calm my skin. I then used Honey the night before the big event for extra moisture and brightening. Choose whatever type of sheet mask suits for skin concern that day – everyone’s different. I use them just before bed, and it calms me down for a good sleep. Tip #1: Leave them in the fridge 20 minutes before use for anti-inflammatory effects.

HAIR MASK: I used Loreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil once a week. I applied this two nights before the event, ensuring that it was even throughout all of my hair. I then tied my hair into two boxer braids and went to bed. I washed it out using shampoo and conditioner the next morning and my hair felt silky smooth – just in time for the big event the next day.

EPILATION: I used the Braun Silk Epil 7 Epilator on my legs once a week. I epilated my legs two nights before the big event to ensure that they were hair free and also red-dots free! My Mum never let me shave because she believed in the myth that shaving would only make the hair grow back twice as thick – this is not true. So, she let me epilate instead – and it’s not as painful as you might think, and it also definitely gets better the more times you do it. Make sure to moisturise immediately after to calm down the skin.

FAKE TAN: Le Tan Fast Tan Instant Foaming Mousse in Dark Bronze once a week. I applied this two nights before the big event, a couple of hours before going to bed. This bronzer is olive toned, which ensures that you don’t come off orange. The tan is buildable, so it’s up to you whether you use 1 or 2 or 3 coats. I suggest experimenting with fake tan well before your event so you can be sure of what looks good on you. Make sure your skin has been properly exfoliated before applying fake tan.

I use it everyday, but only once a day or once every two days. I don’t go crazy like in this post haha! It works pretty great cause it’s for dry skin so extra moisture. Let me know how you go, thank you! 💖😘

All of these products sound really good
Of late, I’ve been hunting for oil-free facial products, because I have really oily skin and most times I avoid makeup altogether
Hope to find something that works for me too soon
    Great article!

Thank you so much! I recommend clay facials or these hydrating sheet masks – it’s important to still treat for hydrating even if you have oily skin! I hope you find something that works for you – if in doubt, ask your doctor. Thank you so much for reading, it means so much 😘❤️
